Permits/Plan Review - Issues permits for remodeling, new construction, roofing, heating and air conditioning, electric, plumbing, refrigeration, fire alarm, fire sprinkler, sign, and wrecking for the City of Evansville and Vanderburgh County; One Stop Permit Center provides central location for submission of plans for new, remodel, change of use or additions to commercial structures for concurrent review by all agencies; issues permits for both residential and commercial buildings; issues certificate of inspection for final inspections on projects before businesses are open or homes occupied; plans are reviewed to meet Building Code requirements; receives call-in permits over the phone for roofing and remodeling. Inspection/Complaint Response - Inspects underground, rough-in and final installation of electrical, plumbing, heating, air conditioning, refrigeration, fire alarms, boilers and fire sprinklers; inspects footings, foundation, framing and roofing for structural code compliance; all buildings (commercial or residential) must be inspected if they are newly constructed, remodeled or have an addition; receives complaints on Code violations, weeds (in the County) and contractors; conducts inspections of dilapidated, open and/or vacant (safety hazard) commercial buildings within City limits and all structures in the County; enforces codes and safety rules by stop work orders, citations, forces demolition and other court action. Contractor Licensing/Education - Issues license for persons
engaged in the business of electrical, HVAC, steamfitter, refrigeration,
construction, roofing, wrecking, sign erection, fire alarm, fire sprinkler
and moving buildings; receives and files insurance, bond and worker s
compensation forms; issues registration cards for plumbers; develops and
administers continuing education programs for all contractors; maintains
records of all contractors including hours of continuing education and
